Dark Moon in Libra Ritual: Unveil & Rebalance

Time: Ideally, just before or right when the New Moon occurs (late evening of Oct 20 into Oct 21). 

Supplies:

  • Tarot or oracle deck

  • Journal & pen

  • A mirror (hand or small)

  • A bowl of water + salt (for purification)

  • A black, dark blue, or violet candle

  • Optional: rose quartz or clear quartz (for clarity & harmony)

  • Optional: incense (e.g., frankincense, myrrh, or palo santo)


1. Prepare Your Sacred Space (5–7 min)

  • Dim or extinguish overhead lights; use candles only.

  • Light your candle and place it near the mirror.

  • Put the bowl of saltwater and your crystal (if using) nearby.

  • If you burn incense, do that now to cleanse the space and your aura.

  • Sit quietly and take three deep, slow breaths, allowing tension to drop away.


2. Mirror Gaze & Invocation (3 min)

  • Hold (or place) the mirror so you can gaze into your own eyes.

  • Speak (softly or mentally): “I look honestly. I call in the unseen. I invite light into what has been hidden.”

  • Dip your fingers in the saltwater, then touch your brow (inner vision), heart (core truth), and throat (voice).


3. Shadow-Work Tarot Spread — “Balance in the Dark”

Shuffle intentionally, asking for what wants to be seen, and draw five cards in a cross or semi-circle formation:

1. The Shadow in My Relationships

What part of myself shows up in relational dynamics that I haven’t fully faced?

2. The Underlying Wound

The root or origin of that shadow in past experience.

3. The Pattern It Creates

How does this shadow show up in daily life, especially with others?

4. The Hidden Wisdom

What gift or insight is built into this shadow, waiting to be reclaimed?

5. The Step to Rebalance

What action or shift will help me integrate this truth and restore harmony?


Take your time with each card. Notice details, feelings, tension, whatever the imagery brings up.



4. Deep Journal Prompts (10–15 min)

Reflect in writing, ideally immediately after your tarot insights:

  1. Where do I overextend myself to maintain peace or avoid conflict, even when it drains me?

  2. What voices, needs, or truths have I silenced in order to “keep balance,” and how might those hidden parts be pleading for acknowledgment?

  3. What boundary or shift do I need to claim now, so that I can relate from wholeness rather than depletion?


Let the cards’ messages seep into these reflections. Don’t censor, allow whatever wants to come up.


5. Release & Seal (5 min)

  • Gaze into the mirror again, naming the shadow aspect with compassion, e.g., “I see you, [shadow name or description]. You have been hidden. I now welcome your voice.”

  • Dip your fingers in saltwater and flick drops away from you while visualizing the release of old patterns.

  • Extinguish the candle (snuff, don’t blow) as a seal of the ritual and as a symbolic “closing of the portal.”
